There are many ways to lose weight and work out. However, weight loss is a personal thing. There’s no single secret that’s effective for everyone. Because of this, once you decide you’d like to lose weight, you should begin by going over various options and selecting the ones you believe will be effective for you.
Try not working out and just doing an activity you like. If you don’t find exercise appealing, then find something else to do. Find a non-traditional workout such as dancing, playing catch, riding bikes, or hiking. This can be rewarding and may not seem like work.
Don’t avoid parties just because you’re trying to lose weight. Eat the fruits and vegetables at gatherings before you even look at the high-calorie fare. This allows you to take part in the festivities while still adhering to your weight loss plan. Try not to think about your diet when at the party, as you should have as much fun as possible.
Most people enjoy french fries. It is important to avoid them if it all possible. There is, however, a healthy french fry alternative that you can bake yourself. Cut potatoes into 1/2″ fries, toss in a large bowl with 1 tbsp. of oil, sprinkle with salt, pepper and a bit of rosemary if you like, and bake in a single layer at 400 degrees for 30 min. Loosen with a spatula, turn, and bake another 10 min. or so. They’re really delicious with ketchup, a lot lower in calories and you’ll never miss the deep frying. This recipe is taken from Laurel’s cookbook under the name “French Bakes”.
Sucking on ice can help to alleviate hunger pangs and cravings. Eating ice can be effective in getting rid of the want to eat because you might just want something in the mouth.
When you are on a diet you may have occasion to eat at a nice restaurant. Remember that the portions served will probably be larger than what you want to eat. It’s a smart idea, for your diet and your wallet (bonus!), to ask the waitress for a to-go container and immediately put half your meal inside. You reduce your caloric consumption for dinner, and provide yourself with a lunch for the following day.
Ask one of your friends to be your exercise buddy. Having a friend around can make exercising seem less like a chore and more like a sociable event. Both of you will be able to push each other and tell your stories of success. Having someone come with you will make exercising more thrilling.
Now you should be aware of what is possible to achieve. Pick the method you think will work for you, and then learn more about it. You will never know if a diet or exercise routine is right for you until you try it. Doing so is the best way to find out if it will give you results.
